About Compress Image to a Target KB
Need a smaller image for a website, email attachment or online form? Our free image compressor lets you choose a target file size in kilobytes, such as 100KB or 200KB. Upload a JPG or PNG image, enter your limit, and select JPG or WebP output. The tool searches for a usable compression quality and displays the result's actual size and dimensions before download. The image is processed in your browser rather than uploaded to our server. A target is not a guarantee: a detailed photo or graphic might not fit into a very small file without reducing its dimensions. If the result looks too soft, increase the target size or use the Image Resizer first. Compare fine text and edges at full size before sharing a compressed image.
How to use this tool
- Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device.
- Adjust the available settings, if this tool offers any.
- Click Process image and preview the output.
- Download the finished image to your device.
Practical tips
- JPEG works well for photos; WebP often saves even more space.
- Photos with lots of detail are harder to compress.
- If your target cannot be achieved, resize the image first.
Privacy and limitations
Your images are processed locally in your browser; the image is not uploaded to the mrIMK Tools server by these tools. Your browser may limit very large files or image dimensions. Animated images and SVG input are not currently supported. Check the final downloaded file before relying on it for professional use.
